The Middletown community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 15-year-old Gustavo Rocha, a freshman at Middletown High School South, who died following injuries sustained in an e-bike accident on June 10. The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Newman Springs Road near Jumping Brook Road. Authorities report that Gustavo was riding an e-bike when he collided with the rear of a stopped vehicle. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Emergency responders from Middletown EMS arrived quickly and provided on-site medical care before transporting him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Despite efforts to save his life, Gustavo later succumbed to his injuries.
